Our attic renovation project, initiated in mid-2024, began with the usual challenge of finding a reliable contractor. Having tackled renovations before, we were prepared for inflated quotes and encountered some shockingly high bids, with some contractors even unwilling to discuss their pricing. After an initial setback with a different contractor who ghosted us over an HVAC quote, we fortunately discovered Makeover Finishes. From our first meeting with Igor Almeida and his team, we were impressed by their relaxed demeanor, collaborative approach, and honesty. Their reasonable rates sealed the deal, and we began work with confidence. Like any large project, ours had its share of hurdles, including permit delays and a miscommunication that led to a ceiling being unnecessarily removed, leaving part of our house cold in winter. We also faced delays and errors from HVAC and electrical subcontractors. However, the Makeover team consistently demonstrated excellent communication and a commitment to resolving issues courteously and efficiently. Despite these challenges, the core work — framing, carpentry, plumbing, and painting — was excellent, and we're thrilled with the final results. Even with several scope changes, including additional living room renovations, the project impressively stayed within our budgeted cost, with funds even remaining from our initial deposit. This speaks volumes about Makeover's integrity and dedication to client satisfaction. Working with Igor, Lucas, and the entire Makeover team was a pleasure. Communication was good and we always felt we could trust them to address problems and deliver on their promises.
